be told not to do sth 是tell sb not to do sth的被动语态.
3. were watching , playing
这是固定句型：was/were doing...when... 意思是“正在做某事,就在此时.”
这个句型要关键看第一个分句的时态,还可以说be about to do when...正要干某事就在此时...
第二个空：watch sb doing sth 看见某人在干某事 doing sth在句中作宾补.
watch sb do sth.看见某人做了某事, do sth 是不带to的不定式作宾补.
