副词用来修饰动词没错,但weigh是“称.的重量”之意,如果用much的话,修饰weigh,表示“称”本身这个动作很多很重,是不恰当的,解释不正确.因此这里的a lot修饰的是it（the cloth bag）,意为包很重.
eg：The dog smells (good).这只狗闻上去很香很好吃.good修饰的是狗.
The dog smells well.这只狗的嗅觉很灵敏.well修饰的是smell这个动作.因此后面跟形容词或副词意思是完全不同的.
