This paper,based on the principles and functions of the games and the psychological characteristics of the junior middle school students,deals with the application of the games in teaching English,revealing some of the strategies for the game teaching methods,which affect the efficiency of the language learning.Results of experiments prove that positive and lively games are motives needed for language learning.It is also vital for language teachers to motivate students by combining teaching with entertainment in class.The author also mentions that English teachers should recognize the potential for creating a warm and friendly environment for learning so that English teaching process will be more effective in improving students’ interest in learning English.
