这个是what引导的宾语从句，宾语从句遵循前后时态一致，didn't是过去，那么what引导的宾语从句的时态也应该是过去时，所以应该选C

发生什么，应用What来问而不用how；
during the night 表示持续了一段时间固用完成时；
但题中有didn't应该用过去完成时，答案应该是 what had happened 才对。
是不是写错了
