The teapot looks like a duck.这只壶看起来像只鸭子.
这个句子用的主动式.当表达事物的自然属性的时候,通常用主动表被动.
这里用looking现在分词短语作定语,就是用主动式表示壶看起来像鸭子这种自然的属性.

looking 动名词作定语
修饰名词的只能是形容词和动名词，不能用动词修饰名词
所以不能用looked修饰teapot

这个look like表示的是看起来。。。主动表被动，相似的还有taste尝起来,feel感觉起来 等等
