There are both advantages and disadvantages of participating in competitions for different subjects.
For one thing,it is helpful for students to develop their interest in various subjects by participating in competitions. In addition, competitions and contests can not only enrich students' knowledge of the subjects,but also cultivate their spirit of constant exploration.
For another thing,if not well organised,too many competitions and contests may throw confusion into the order of normal study,which can also have negative effect on students balanced development. What's worse, some competitions and contests might do harm to students' physical and psychological health if they are lost. Therefore, it is strongly advised that competitions and contests should be held orderly and regularly without resulting in too much side effect on students' normal study.
