虽然in bed 的意思和stay in bed 的意思一样,是卧床的意思,但是,in bed 是介词,stay in bed 有动词
我们不能说we must in bed(因为没有动词）
我们只能用we must stay in bed (有了stay 这个动词）

He must stay in bed.（他必须呆在床上）in bed也是在床上，但在此句中如果直接用的话就没谓语了。因为must是情态动词，不能单独做谓语，必须要和其它动词连用。希望可以帮到您，谢谢！
