不是啦，不是断句不同的原因！是be helpful to do sth. 和 be helpful in doing sth. 这两个句式虽然都正确，但是意思是不一样的！前一个的意思我刚刚已经比较详细地说明了，后一个才是“对做某事有帮助”的意思，这道题出得很阴险，因为很多人都会不假思索地认为前一个句式也是这个意思。

Chess players find that playing against a computer is helpful in improving their skills, even though no chess-playing computer has yet won a championship. (这个句子已经改正了) 翻译：棋手们发现跟计算机对战有助于磨练他们的棋艺，尽管还没有任何计算机棋手在任何赛事中摘下过冠军头衔。 如果句子不改正，前半句都没法翻译，因为be helpful to do sth. 一般都是It作形式主语，to do sth.才是逻辑主语。

it is helpful (for sb) to do sth 应用实例： 1. It is helpful to discuss your problems with your friends. -跟你的朋友们聊聊你遇到的问题是有好处的。 [误] 这有助于你跟你的朋友们聊你遇到的问题。 2. It is helpful for family members to gain a basic understanding of the illness. -家庭成员对这种病有基本的了解是很有好处的。 [误] 这有助于家庭成员对这种病获得基本的了解。 3. It is helpful if we address a few key questions here. -我们在这里还是提一些关键性的问题比较好。 [误] 这有助于我们提出一些关键性的问题。 helpful in doing sth 应用实例： We hope this leaflet has been helpful in answering your questions. 我们希望这个宣传单可以帮助您找到您想要的答案。 总结：我认为区别这两种句型的意思的诀窍在于，在it is helpful (for sb) to do sth 之中，helpful不是对“to do sth.”有帮助，而是说“to do sth.”这个行为对“人”是有帮助的，它的逻辑受益方是人，而非那个行为，为了更好地理解，你完全可以用to do sth.取代it，还原句子的本来面目（it本来就是形式主语，只是为了避免句子头重脚轻才使用的），拿这个句子来说就是：To discuss your problems with your friends is helpful （这样还原之后是不是比较容易理解成“跟你的朋友们聊聊你遇到的问题是有好处的”？）；在helpful in doing sth之中，逻辑受益方才是doing sth.而不是人。
