The two bar charts show that number of people who were married and divorced in th USA every decade from 1970 to 2000,and marital status of adult Americans in 1970 and 2000.
According to the first bar chart,there were 2.5 million marriages in 1970 and 1980.After 1980,the number of marriage had a slight decline by 0.25 million every decade until 2 million in 2000.And the number of divorces stood at 1 million in 1970,which had increase to almost 1.5 million in 1980.From this year onward,number of divorces had a similar decrease trend as that of marriages,to 1 million in 2000.
It can be seen from the second bar chart that the percentage of adults which got married in 1970 and 2000 is 70% and 60% respectively,which were the largest group.The ratio of never married had an increase,from 15% in 1970 to 20% 2000.By contrast,the rate of windowed and divorced represented an insignificant share,with less than 10%.
In summary,the number of marriage was largest,but there was trend that more and more people did not choose to get married.
