If an external torque is impressed on the
rotor, then electromotive force E2, which
is a measure of the angular velocity of the
rotor Wr , is applied such that current 12
(torque Tr) is delivered to the rotor and
current I l (torque Tz) is delivered to the
load. The voltage between points A and
B represents the velocity of the load
which can be different from the velocity
of the rotor. If the torque transmitted
through the coupling is uniform, then I z
will be a direct current, and points A and
C will be at the same potential and consequently
have the same angular velocity.
For some particular applications, it
may be more convenient to represent the
analogy by the dual of Figure 6(A), as shown in Figure 6(B).
