Ladies and gentlemen,I am so glad to be here to have the speech.And my topic is The
Changes.Now,as you can see,I am in a pretty cool t-shirt and there is a
famous NBA star called Rajon Rondo on it.I do like him and he plays basketball
particularly well.However,in my father's childhood,it seems to be impossible
for him to wear this.Even knowing such an association for him can be
difficult,although NBA started in 1949; my father was born in 1971.So how can
it become possible?The answer probably is.The communication between China and
foreign countries has been more frequent.
Everybody can feel our life is getting different from before.The high-technology
has been changing our habits and lifestyle step by step.Because of the progress
of technology,people can communicate more conveniently and more freely.We can
just stay at home and talk with a person from western part of china,southern
part of china,even an American or an Australian on Internet.We also can know
what is happening around the world.Other than these changes,there is another
huge change-- some foreign culture began to penetrate our lives.My T-shirt is
an example.
On the one hand,it has a lot of positive influence,in fact.Our mind
has been broadened,and we can know more news about the whole world.Also,we
can be more objective to view the country,the society,and the world.Besides these
contributions,our country benefits a lot,too.It is because of the
communication of China with other countries that our economy developed quickly,
absorbing the great experience quickly.A lot of western ideas are useful
ideas.As for ordinary people,teenagers find a larger world from foreign
cultures.They like trendy things such as IPAD,IPHONE and so on.They play
games on computers.They are crazy for some movie stars or famous singers from
all over the world.Middle-aged people would like to go to bars and night clubs
rather than go to teahouse and theaters.
On the other hand,some people say that foreign culture makes Chinese;
especially teenagers ignore the traditional culture.To be honest,there is
really a bit.Fewer and fewer people want to learn Beijing Opera,Erhu.They’d
like to learn piano,violin instead.Fewer and fewer people really know about
Yue Fei,Zhuge Liang.They are more interested in Steve Jobs and Lady Gaga.
Obviously,some traditional cultures are gradually disappearing.
So,the western influence has a good side and a bad side.If there
is another association begins,my dad can know it in a minute as long as he
like.It’s brilliant.The bad side is we do not pay so much attention on
traditions as before.I think that we need to do better,and we are able to find
balance.
