Discus:
The ancient Greeks considered the rhythm and precision of an athlete throwing the discus as important as his strength.
The discus was made of stone,iron,bronze,or lead,and was shaped like a flying saucer.Sizes varied,since the boys' division was not expected to throw the same weight as the mens'.In 1896,Olympic Game discus was becomes a regular event in the Olympic athletic competition.
Rules:
• The IAAF is authorized to determine the shape and the weight of the discs used during the competition.
• The distance between the border of the throwing circle and the point of impact on the landing area is measured for recording the distance of the throw.
• No athlete is permitted to leave the throwing circle until the disc thrown by him touches the ground in the landing area.
• Athletes are not allowed to exit the competition ground without prior permission of the judge allotted.
• During the discus throw competition,each athlete is given eight chances to throw the disc.The best throw made by the athlete is recorded and evaluated to determine the winner of the competition.
• The second best throw made by the athletes are the key factors for breaking a tie between them.
