I just can’t tell you how sorry I was to learn of your accident.---I just couldn't tell you how sorry i was when i learnt of .(当时情况)
tells 改为told 是不是合适些,过去时嘛 ,（而且此处family指整体当中的人,应用复数)
out of the hospital ---the 可去掉吧,没必要

英语中有些词叫做集体名词，比如family ，team 等，严格来说有单复数之区别，如果强调群体中的个体，或者说是强调成员时用复数，而强调整体概念就用做单数
