楼主好,
副词是很活跃的,没有限定说它一定要放在什么位置.
另外,副词是修饰形容词和动词的,你所说的不定式说白了还是to+动词原形,
说个例子:
I answered promptly the question he asked me.
他问了我一个问题,我马上就回答了.
I promptly answered the question he asked me.
转成不定式看下:
I was asked to answer the question promptly.
I was asked to promptly answer the question.
你看promptly在上面两句位置是不同的,但都是对的.

我知道副词可以乱放，但是比如说一个句子里面3个动词（2个非谓语）+2个副词，天知道那个修饰那个动词，如果乱放的话.... I was asked to answer the question promptly. 很快我就被要求去回答那个问题。 可能表示我还没想好的时候别人就要求我去回答了 我感觉措手不及。promptly 可以是修饰 ask 也可以是 answer 谁知道修饰哪一个？？会有歧义吗？ 老外！！ to promptly answer 夹在中间 根据就近原则不会有歧义

...咦?? 你这样想 如果我是要修饰ask的话, 绝对不会把它放后面,像你说的会混淆. 放前面就可以: I promptly was asked to answer the question. I was promptly asked to answer the question. 您说是吗???

是的呢, 就我上面的那个句子, 像你提到的,promptly 可以是修饰 ask 也可以是 answer,容易混淆. 为了避免有歧义发生,建议就近原则.

To Adv do, such as , To better understand the meaning of the phrase, to safely operate a machine you need read the instruction first. 但也有把副词放到句子或名词后面的， 也可以说， to operate the machine safely you need.......
