insist 用法:insist that sb.should do;
当 insist 表示坚持要求做某事的时候,后面的宾语从句要用虚拟语气(should 可以省略);
当 insist 表 示坚持认为的时候,不用虚拟语气.

insist 坚持
（1）Insist that +（sb should do sth. ）坚持某人应该做什么。,should 这个单词可以省略，所以你的题目的原句应该是 should stay ,只是省略了should .
（2）insist that+ 宾语从句在表示一个客观事实时（谓语动词不用虚拟语气，而应用陈述语气）。
