masses of +不可数名词作主语,谓语用单数还是复数?

用复数
谓语动词的单复数需要取决于 a mass 和masses .前者用单,后者用复.
eg:
There is a mass of children in the yard.
There are masses of ice in the river.

我觉得楼上说的不太准确, 我查了一下朗文和牛津,我们可以一起看几个例句
先看 a mass of
There is a huge mass of work to be done.
The page was coverd with a mass of figures.
貌似确实都用单数。。
再看masses of
The table was heap...
