the end of the world 和 the ends of the earth 都是世界尽头的意思,为什么一个是用 end ,另一个是用 ends ?还有 before the night ends 为什么end 加s ?

the end of the world 和 the ends of the earth 这里 end 都是名词形式指：尽头.我认为：world的end没有s因为一般来说world是一个整体,所以只有一个尽头.而earth则有很多所以需要用复数ends.
before the night ends 这里end做动词指：结束.所以night是第三人称单数,所以加s.
