1,he flirts with fame是“追求名誉”的意思.
2,take time off from doing sth本来是“抽空做某事”的意思.但在这里明显有点...偏离.
我记得在新概念3的44课里边有句话是这样的.
It is almost impossible to take your mind off the journey.
这里的意思就是说,想摆脱旅途的困扰几乎是不可能的事情.
take sth off就是“把什么什么从中抽离”的意思.你可以这样理解.
