Henry had a problem.Ms.Green,his teacher,was always saying something good about him.She said so many nice things about him that the other kids seemed to believe that he was the teacher’s pet.Henry wanted to do good work in school,but he didn’t enjoy the thought of being considered “ Mister Perfect” .
Henry guessed from the very first day in class that Mrs.Green might favor him.Ms.Green had mentioned in front of the whole class that she was especially happy to have Jason because she had had his brother two years earlier,and she knew Henry was from a fine family.
When there were special jobs to do,Ms.Green usually called on Henry.He sometimes wished that he could never be seen.He liked Ms.Green,but being treated in a special way all the time was losing his friends and making him the target(目标) of cruel comments and jokes.
On one dreadful day,Ms.Green told Henry in front of the other students that he had a smile just like his brother Jack’s.That did it.His classmates started calling him “Smiley” during the noon hour and after school.It was awful!
Henry’s mother knew Ms.Green very well,and Jason wondered if he might ask his mom to discuss the problem with Ms.Green.He hated to get his mom involved (牵涉),and he hated to make a big deal of the problem with Ms.Green.After all,she wasn’t trying to embarrass him.
