（only）to find.这整个短语作结果状语,表示次日,我妈妈回家发现房子干净整洁.（含有点出乎意料的意思省略了only）

as在这里做“因为”的意思，
从句的主语被省略了，补全后应该是as （Most engravings are best lit from the left） befits the work of right-handed artists。这样是不是就容易理解多了，其实这里还可以加一个it指代前面的内容，只是作者为了精简文章，将其省略了
