Specialized courses or basic courses, which are more important?
For most college students, they are facing both basic courses and speicialized courses. Usually, when they step into the university, they don't start specialized courses immediately. They probably have to study basic courses for a year or two. This is the same for students of any major. At their second year, the students begin to learn specialized courses that make them become a teacher , a lawyer or a doctor.
Many students may be questioning, "why should we study basic courses for such a long time if the special courses make us professional?"
The truth, in my opinion, is that basic courses are more important. The basic courses are designed to help students think independently and develop learning ability. Through learning those basic courses, the students are building up confidence and starting to find their true self. For the specialized courses, they help you learn how to make things, but the basic courses help you to want to do the things. For example, if you are a doctor, and you don't want to help the patients, the patients remain sick however good your skills are.
So, it's really important to pay more attention to the basic courses. Also it's important to work hard on the special courses to make ourselves more professional.
