I think you have heard the name and know his great works more or less.Allan poe is poet ,novelist and critics role into one and his works are unique in styles and contants.
It is a pity that Allan poe has just lived in the world for forty years .He could have created more fabulous works if he had lived longer.He wrote 67 novels in his short life among which are some famous detective novels greatly influencing the field.His great works of detective novels are become the harbinger of detective fictions.
However,he is a controversial person.More people are tend to cirtic his privite life or perhaps the worst thing is that he is always excessive drinking.He is fond of drinking however I don’t think this is a bad habit ,for a poet or writter,alcohol may be the best writing inspration.However ,because of this he lost his love and faild to marry Shra ,a widow with great literature talent.You can never imagine that such a man would write the great works like The philosophy of writing or The theory of poem .
I felt sympathy for him however I was hate him.I don’t like a man who is drinking or smoking and I think many people will agree with me.It Is stupid to loss opportunities or marriage because of overdrinking.While on the other hand I have to addmit that he is a respectable figure for creating such works in such a short length of life.I just want to say that:Every coin has two sides.And no one is perfect ,as a man ,he must have somewhat weakness and strength .We should treat them properly .
Nevertheless,Edgar Allan poe is a great writer and a great man in his literture career.
