1在不定代词anything, nothing, the one, all, much, any, few, little等作先行词指物时

2先行词有the only, the very修饰物时
This is the only book that I want.
He is the very person that/who robbed me of my purse on that day.（修饰人不一定）
3先行词为形容词最高级时
This was the most touching movie of this year that made numerous people cry.
4先行词既有人又有物时
For hours we were talking about the people and places that interested us.
5为避免用词的重复
Who is the man that is making a speech to the students?
6先行词前有序数词或the last修饰时
This is the first novel (that) I have read.
Going to the theatre is the last thing (that) I want to do.
7关系代词在定语从句中充当表语的成分
