front是名词,所以只能用固定搭配,而其他的是介词,可以直接跟宾语（也就是名词）.而且注意一下,in the front of 和in front of 是有区别的,前者是指在什么的内部的前面,如 He sits in the front of the classroom,强调他坐在教室里的前排,而 He stands in front of me 指他站在我前面.你所说的he is in the front of the car 意思应该是他坐在轿车前排座位上.这个在初中的苏教版英语书上有

其实不用加the
in front of 是一个短语 in front能说是一个词，是连在一起的，意思是‘在前面’，不能分开， 儿of则是说是在什么的前面。所以要有in和of
