My dear friend,I'm really sorry that I have lost the book that borrowed from you.
I was about to rush to the classroom that day because of my getting up late.So,after dealing with my breakfast in no time,I left the canteen immediately.I didn't expect,however,I forgot the book on the table in the canteen.
I know it's really my fault,and I will pay you a new one as an appologize.But the only thing is that I hope you will forgive me and we can still be good frieds for the future.
