Technology increases the quantity of our social opportunities,while it decreases the quality.It is replacing a basic human need for physical proximity with mental imagery.
I have a friend who e-mailed his lover every day...
He wanted to be with his love,but instead he had to settle for the daily emails...
Better than nothing,but a shallow replacement for real interaction,which will continue to decrease as time goes by,and technology increases it's stronghold in our lives.It displaces our physical worlds and increase our virtual "social" lives.See the movie "Surrogates"
