我想这与修饰surroundings的形容词有关吧,第一个句子里的形容词是peaceful,安静的意思.指这个旅馆的环境很安静,在这里surroundings的意思是环境,为不可数名词,所以用单数.而第二个句子中的形容词为clean,指他的家很干净,这里surroundings是surrounding的复数形式,意思是周围的事物,是可数的,所以用复数.
