为什么than后面可以是一个形容词?
正常的情况不是应该是像"egg is bigger than grape"这样than后面跟名词的吗?

expect 是动词.

此句可以写作“the situation is better than (the situation) expected”
因为把括号里的名次省略掉一丝也一样，所以就成了你所看到的句子。
