只有该词可以有双宾语句中 the chances是被动语态中的保留宾语即原来的直接宾语
2翻译：奖项将颁发给他们中任何一个文章写得最好的.
选项后有个of them的范围限制,当然用“whichever”,表示“他们中的任何一个”.
如果没有of them这个范围限制,答案应该选A.
所以本题答案是C whicheve

missed错过。因其它词义不符合题意思。lost 丢失。denied否认
选whichever.因后面有of them所以只有它能接。而whoever,可作主语，宾语但不接介词
whomever只作宾语但也不接介词。所以只有第三个对。
