while引导的从句是不是只能用进行时态?
The performers all wore different costumes and waved to people while they marched across the park.这儿的marched是否正确呢?

while 在引导时间状语从句时，表示“在。。。期间”，体现动作的持续性，
针对本句，修改为"....while they were marching across....",更加准确。
不过也不是只能用进行时，如
“please look after my pet while I am away "----其中 be away 也可以表示持续的状态“不在，离开”。

应该是可以的，march这里当作一个可延续性动词，表达状态。放在阅读完型中可以理解，不能算错，自己写最好还是不要这样用

不正确
在while引导的时间状语从句中，其谓语动词只能是延续性的，而且也只能与主句中的谓语动词同时发生或存在。用延续性动词时只能用进行时。
当然be 动词不一样，它可表示正处于某种状态，如：
I hate interrupting others while they are at work .
while 还可表示转折，翻译成“虽然，然而”，这时就没那么多讲究了...
