hope一般说来,在英语中不属於虚拟语气的用词.wish是的.完整的句子应该是：
I had hoped that I ___A___ you by talking about my children BEFORE i started talking about them .
had hoped（过去完成时） - - - - + BEFORE +句子（谓语是一般过去时）-------这样时态就保持了相对的一致性.所以,不是虚拟语气的句子.
