What characteristics do good classroom learners share?
1.A willingness to listen: good learners listen to what’s going on --not just in the sense of paying attention, but also in termsof really listening to what the instructorsays, soaking it up with eagerness and intelligence.
2.A willingness to experiment: many good learners are not afraid to
“have a go”. They are prepared to take risks, to try things out and
see how it works.
3.A willingness to ask questions: the urge to find out why or how is
part of a successful learner’s equipment.
4.A willingness to think about how to learn: good learners bring or
invent their own study skills when they come to a lesson. They
think about the best way to take notes, to work with others, the
best method of drafting and re-drafting a piece of work.
5.A willingness to accept feedback: good learners are keen to get
feedback from the instructor and act upon what they are told. But
this only works where instructors are able to offer constructive
criticism rather than blaming them for being wrong.
