any other 能不能作为一个代词啊

any other 能不能作为一个代词啊
Tony is taller than any other student in his class .
这里面的student可否省略?
如果只给两个空,any other student应改变成什么呢?
any others
other students一定是错的。
我感觉填the others 最好。
能这样想吗？

不能啊，
有两空的话，应该填any others ，others才能直接指代名词
other students 也可以的
我们老师专门强调的呢~~

any other 是形容词，后面必须接名词。但是any other +N.= any others
other是同样的道理。只能做形容词后接名词，但other + N.=others
