从前,有一位公主,非常的骄傲,她认为自己的身份高贵,从来瞧不起身份低贱的人.有一天,公主在侍卫的陪同下出了王宫,公主很贪玩,结果与侍卫走散了.天慢慢黑了,公主很害怕,就大声的哭了,一位衣衫褴褛的老妇人从这走过,看到这位公主在此哭泣,就询问了原因,最后把她带到了自己的的烂草房里过了一夜,这一夜,公主虽然是得不舒服,但是还是很感激这位老妇人,第二天,老妇人用身上仅有的一分钱,给公主买了一块饼,并叫她待在这里,老妇人就一个人出去拾荒了.
国王知道公主不见了,就派了许多人出去寻找,并很快找到了公主.公主回去以后,老妇人的那件事对她触动很大,她觉得自己以前的那种想法做法很可恨,于是,从那天起,公主开始改变了自己,并找到那老妇人赏给她很多钱.并且帮助穷人.公主从此过上了真正幸福快乐的生活.
