terrible 用法?求意会~

terrible
1.very unpleasant; making you feel very unhappy,upset or frightened 非常讨厌的；令人极不快的；可怕的
ex:I've just had a terrible thought.我刚刚产生了一个可怕的念头.
2.causing great harm or injury; very serious 危害极大的；造成加伤害的；非常严重的
ex:He had suffered terrible injuries.他受了重伤.
3.unhappy or ill 不痛快；有病
ex:I feel terrible—I think I'll go to bed.我觉得难受,想去睡觉了.
4.of very bad quality; very bad 劣质的； 劣等的； 拙劣的
ex:Your driving is terrible!你的驾驶技术真是糟糕透了!
5.used to show the great extent or degree of sth bad 极度的； 极其严重的
ex:The room was in a terrible mess.房间里脏乱不堪.
terrific
1.(informal)excellent;wonderful 极好的； 绝妙的； 了不起的
ex:I feel absolutely terrific today!我今天的感觉真是好极了!
2.very large; very great 很大的； 巨大的； 异乎寻常的
ex:We drove along at a terrific speed.我们以极快的速度驱车行驶.

大致上有两个意思：
1，作形容词的时候：恐怖，可怕 - the earthquake was terrible!
2，作副词的时候：非常，强烈的 - the ideal is terribly interesting to me.
需要注意的是：
作为“可怕”讲的时候，尚可用来描述客观事物，但其意思也带有一定的主观性（毕竟恐怖也是一种主观感受）。
