I watched the waves
From my little house by the sea.
I didn’t have to wait long
To find what the waves had brought.
A bottle with a message in it.
Where did it come from?
I ran to pick it up
And took from it a small paper.
As I opened it
And looked carefully,
The yellowing paper fell apart
And then fell to the ground.
I started to cry.
Then I stopped and thought:
Maybe it was a message that I should not read.
It didn’t reach the person it was for.
It was gone forever.
