选C milk
a lot of后面可以接“可数名词的复数形式”和“不可数名词”,所以选C.
cake即可数又不可数,cake是‘“蛋糕”,作可数名词,一个蛋糕是a cake,两个蛋糕则是two cakes；作片状或块状的糕点时则是不可数名词,每片都是a piece of cake.一般没有“a lot of cake”这种说法.所以不选A.

there be是靠近原则，a lot of可以修饰可数与不可数，如果选择A，因为cake是不可数名词，通常用于a piece of cake ,没有用a lot of cake ，B选项应该用 there are ，明白了吗？？可以再问的

C　因为谓语动词是is，又有a　lot　of，　所以后面的主语是不可数名词。
补充：cake是可数名词
