我的理解是：
1、with,表示with后面所有的这一串.不加逗号,就只是with紧接在后面的那个.
2、superimposed upon,同样表示后面那一串都是superimposed upon的.相当于superimposed upon it the continents,加上superimposed upon together with the islands and other features of the oceans.
3、it the continents,参考2,其实它是superimposed upon it the continents,superimposed upon后面接双宾语.
