Hotel market always has fixed price, and the managers do not normally look at the margin. For example,if a standard room costs £100 a day,the manager will make sure it does not sell for less than that amount. However,if we think out of the box, say,a hotel has three rooms available until 11:50pm,and a customer is willing to pay £80 a day,the manager should consider selling to the customer at least to make a profit, albeit a small one.The marginal benefit is £80,and the marginal cost is only a fraction of it - water and electricity fees.
