1.a kind of/ the kind of 后面的名词 可以加S,也可以不加
比如 a kind of book(s)
2.an employee 不是 一个员工,而是泛指员工,也可以用 the employee或者employees来表示,所以后面用their是对的.

这里job是个笼统的概念吧，“他们找工作时很少有选择的”，就是某个类型的工作，不是特指这个那个工作。
这里我认为是跟everybody 那种用法一样。说“is everybody here”我们一般翻译成“大家都在吗？”
