Market Selection, the First Step
Many companies have a very good idea of where they can export their products. This is because they have already been selling successfully to certain foreign markets, or they know where other suppliers of similar products have been successful. But more often than not, the problem of finding markets is not so simple. A company may never have exported before, and therefore not know which countries to approach first.
Market research is a necessary step to find out which are the most promising markets and how to go about selling in them and meeting the market requirements. The importance of conducting
market research or of employing someone else to do the research is often overlooked by many potential exporters, and even by companies being currently engaged in exporting.
