It is generally accepted that nothing can play a more indispensable role in the cultivation of one’s personality and ability than reading books,for those masterpieces are the essence of human wisdom and knowledge.And people in ever increasing numbers owe their achievements in life to the help and guidance of the shining ideas from those books.
Regrettably,seldom do people in contemporary society enjoy and appreciate books,which stems from various factors.To start with,due to the quickening pace of modern life,a great many people fail to devote enough time to reading books.Moreover,a growing number of young people prefer to gather information from Internet,television news reports and magazines.As a result,books lose the support of the youth.Additionally,a large number of people live under a big illusion that books are of no use to modern society.
Accordingly,it is high time that we college students should first be aware of the real value of books,focus great emphasis upon the issue,and then exert persistent efforts to present the importance and significance of books to the public.All in all,I cherish a belief that the importance of reading books will win the appreciation of the public.
