prep.越过,交叉,在...的那边,在...对面那边
across是 介词,在……对过,穿过
go across the road 跑过马路
across road 在路对面
cross作 动词,穿过
cross the road 穿过马路
通常情况下cross 相当於go across

我个人觉得,ride-hand 意思是 通常允许乘骑车的一边.
有没有可能是拼写错误,right 右 、left 左 .
左手边的话,应该是 left-hand .
“-”这个符号是连字符,有些单词是可以把两个连在一起加上 连字符 组成一个新的复合词的.
下面有很多英语中标点符号的用法,其中也有连字符.

cross is a verd, whereas across is adverb.
