　　population aged above 60,by listing the figures in four selected years and
　　indicating their proportion of total population.
　　It is clear that the population of people over 60 years old went up steadily from
　　year 1990 to year 2013.The number rose from 98.19 million in 1990 to 136.47
　　million in 2003,and continued its increase to 240 million in 2010.In 2013,it
　　reached 430 million.In the meantime,it could be shown that senior citizens -
　　those who are over 60 years old were gradually occupying a more and more
　　significant part in the total population.In 1990,merely 8.8% of total
　　population is over 60.The proportion increased to 10.2% in 2003 and then even
　　went up faster.In 2010,it jumped dramatically to 18.7%,only three years
　　after,the most recent figure shows that people over 60 made up 30.5% of total
　　population.
　　There are several reasons which cause this change.The most important ones are
　　increase in people's life span and decrease in new-born babies.With the
　　development of modern medical technology,people can live much longer than
　　before.At the same time,young couples tend to have fewer kids,mostly only
　　one.Both lead to the increasing proportion of old people in total population.
