当有系动词,而非实意动作谓语时,两个都可以.现在的中学教材这两个已经没有区别了.than有prep和conj两个词性.THAN作连词当然可以用than i或than i am,而than作介词时就用than me.两个都对.如He is taller than i am 或than me.
而你说的这个是由情态动词+实意动词作谓语了,所以此处只能用than I.
