独立主格：一个句子中表达较多意思,而一个句子只能有一个谓语,主语有两个 如：Weather permitting,we will go for a trip.此句中we will go for a trip为主句,we 是主语,will go 为谓语,还要表达“天气允许的话”这层意思,但一句话中谓语已有,则 permit用ing形式,又由于其主语不同,需补出主语,Weather permitting就体现“独立主格” e.g.She opening the window,we can admire the scenery.
