在传统的实验教学中,一般实验目的、实验原理、仪器设备的选用、实验方法与步骤,甚至数据记录表格等都在实验指导书中有详细说明,学生只需要按步骤去操作完成即可,根本不用去查阅资料、思考为什么这样、如何创新等问题。这种教学模式使得学生产生很强的依赖性,导致老师没讲过的东西学生就不会,教师未能指出的地方,学生不会主动地去考虑,往往在教学过程中出现许多突发“事故”,学生无所适从。这种被动学习状态适合传授知识,对学生的动手能力和独立思考能力得不到真正的提高,更不利于培养创新精神和解决实际工程的能力
