Often we have a hard time memorizing English vocabulary even if we have worked hard on it. But you may find building up your vocabulary can be so much easier if you apply the strategy introduced below. When you open a vocabulary book, don't just read the spelling out loud or copy the words and examples again and again. That can be really costly in time and energy. Sometimes it even gets you frustrated. However I recommend you to close your eyes and spend time on picturing a scenario about the word. When you open up your eyes, read the word out loud and get your ears to be familiar with the sound. Then you should try to make a sentence of the word. It's ok if you forgot it on the next day. When that happens, you have to look up the dictionary and find its explanations and synonyms. Try to interpret its English explanation and think about how are these synonyms associated. Use it as often as you can. I personally find it effective and efficient. I used to be confused and struggling as you are, but I can tell you it really helps.
