第一句应该是The workers didn't find out what the matter WAS with the machine.
若换成"what is your trouble",则变为了The workers didn't find out what your trouble WAS.

因为是宾语从句，所以应该用陈述句的语序，所以这句话错了。
应该改为The workers didn't find out what the matter was with the machine.
同理，第二句也要改为陈述句的语序。改为what your trouble is
