Shanghai,as the second largest amount of population city during that time,only have somewhat more than 5 million citizens,just half of the Mumbai's.
这句话我想表达的意思是上海,作为那时的第二大人口城市,只有稍多于五百万的人口,仅为孟买的一半.请问这句话行么,复合英美人思维么,后面那句
just half of the Mumbai's可以这么写么要做补充说明的话,

ShangHai,the city with the second largest population at that time,only had the population a little more than 5 million which was just half of that in Mumbai.
注意下时态,因为是“那时”的上海.总的来说还是比较符合的,定语之类的修饰语较多.
